My Double Digit Daughter

Our Macy girl is 10. Both hands. All ten fingers.

Macy is funny and kind. She loves to help. If you need a helper, in any capacity, Macy is your girl.

Macy wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She loves to play school with Maggie and she likes being with little kids. She will be great babysitter when she is older!

Macy is in 4th grade and is a great leader in her class.

Macy is a great big sister. She loves to spend time with her family and her dog, Luna.

Macy is funny and is always making "Dad" jokes with her Daddy. They crack each other up every day.

Macy is a good athlete and works really hard. She has doubled her hours and her meets in gymnastics this year.

She is determined, and that drive has paid off. We are excited to see her grow and learn more this year as she starts competitive gymnastics.

Happy 10th Birthday, Macy!

We love you so much. We are so proud of the beautiful young lady that you are becoming. Continue to be kind to those around and to advocate for those who can not speak for themselves. We can't wait to watch you grow and take on new things this year.

We love you!

Nine and doing just fine!

My sweet girl is NINE today. One year away from double digits. Time slows down for no one.

Macy is a friend to all. She loves to help, to lead and to teach. She wants to be a gymnastic coach and a teacher when she grows up.

Macy discovered gymnastics this year and has fallen in love with the sport.
She works hard every day and is getting so strong.

Macy is funny and likes to joke around with her daddy.

She is patient with her sister, and not at all patient with her brothers.

She can occupy herself at any sporting event and is happy to be with her family...though not as happy to be at continual soccer games.

We love our kind, sweet girl. We can't wait to see how you grow and change in this coming year.

Happy Birthday, Macy Elizabeth. You are the best nine year old around and we are so proud that you are our daughter. We love you so!

Spectacular Seven!

This little ray of sunshine is 7 today. I can barely believe it.

Macy is our sweet and kind girl with a little bit of spice mixed in.

She loves to be with her friends and is happiest when everyone is together.

She is tackling 1st grade with courage and we are so proud of how she has adjusted to all the changes this year.

She is the best big sister to Maggie and knows what buttons to push with her big brothers.

Macy loves dancing and singing, and riding her bike with her friends. She loves to color and paint.
She loves to bake and make pancakes with her Daddy.

Macy is a lover of bugs and butterflies. She especially loves worms! She is not afraid to get into the dirt and  dig around. She also loves watering her little garden and the flowers.

Macy is funny and silly. She makes us laugh all day long.
We love her laugh!

Macy loves to be outside, playing with her friends.

Macy loves fashion and make-up and loves to practice putting it on, even if her Dad is not a fan of the make-up part!

Miss Macy, we love you so much! We are so glad you are ours.
You light up our world.

Happy 7th Birthday, sweet girl!

Sweetest Six!

My girl is 6 today.

In some ways, she seems like she is so much older and yet, I remember the first time I looked at my sweet little Eskimo baby with all that pitch black hair and those squishy little cheeks.

She stole our heart the moment she arrived and has had it ever since.

Macy is kind and funny. She cares deeply for her friends and her family.

Macy is artistic and loves to paint, color and create. She loves music and dancing and her very favorite thing to do right now is play with her Barbies.
She spends hours playing and creating with her Barbies.

Macy just started Kindergarten and is cautiously optimistic about it. Macy is not a fan of change or the unknown, so this new Kindergarten venture has stretched her and she has answered admirably.

Macy loves nature and the outdoors and this year, she and her Daddy made their first garden. Little did they know that those cute little cherry tomato plants would grown to be 10 ft tall and take over the whole backyard!

Macy loves her family and is the best big sister ever! She likes to get in her brothers way and knows how to get them upset, but she loves them dearly as well! She spends hours on the soccer field watching her brothers and rarely complains. She really is a fantastic soccer sister.

We love our beautiful, sweet girl and we are so glad that she is ours.

Happy 6th Birthday, Macy Elizabeth. We pray that you grow in confidence this year and know how truly valued and loved you are. We love everything about you. Now...stop growing so fast!!

Magnificent Macy

I sat in a little chair, crouched next to tiny tables. I was at Macy's preschool open house and I was asked to describe my child in one word. One word to describe her infinite qualities and characteristics. How could I narrow it down to just one word?

So, I thought and contemplated, while listening to other parents use large adjectives to explain their child and I kept coming back to a few simple words. Simple words with deep meaning that I could use to describe my daughter.

Kind. Loving. Helper. Friend.

Because while she is gregarious and sassy and a firecracker at times, she is mostly kind. She is a helper, to me, to her little sister, to her teacher. She is a friend, building relationships wherever she goes.  She is loving and sweet.

Today, my sweet girl turns 5. One full hand of five precious fingers.

She came into our world in a flurry, surprising us all with her quick appearance. She has filled our world with bows and bags, dresses and dolls. She can wrestle with the best of them, but her most favorite thing to do is sing and dance to The Greatest Showman soundtrack.

She is just the best big sister, helping Maggie, even is she didn't ask. Maggie will go to her big sister when a loud noise scares her, holding on tight to Macy. She has grown into her big sister role with patience and grace. We are so proud of her.

Macy Elizabeth, you light up our world with your smile and laugh. We are so proud of the kind friend you are becoming and look forward to watching you grow in confidence in the coming years.

We love you, sweet girl. Happy 5th Birthday!

Fabulous Four!!

My sweet girl is FOUR today!

Our Macy is funny and kind and sweet, with a hearty side of sass.

She has had the biggest adjustment when it comes to her new sister and she has done amazing. While she does miss having most of Mom or Dad' attention, she always loves on her sister. She is a great helper, always getting a diaper or wipes for me, helping with the bottle and looking out for small toys on the floor.

Macy has a lot of patience with Maggie. Sometimes Maggie gets too excited and scratches at Macy. Macy calmly and patiently will grab her hand and show her how to touch gently. It is so sweet to watch. Macy is an amazing caretaker.

Macy loves her friends and her family and always looks out for them. She loves to wait for the bus with her brothers and the neighborhood girl, giving each one a hug (much to the dismay of her brothers) before they get on the bus.

She is full of life, spunk and heart and we could not be more proud of her!

Happy 4th Birthday, Macy!

We love you so much!!

Doss ay what?!: An Adoption Update

Miss Macy, holding our Dossier, ready to mail to our agency in Kentucky. Was I nervous letting her hold all those documents? Yes, yes I was.

Well, we did it. We worked for 6 months compiling, notarizing and authenticating a whole plethora of documents that come together to form our dossier (pronounced Doss ee ay)

That blue folder held by that smiling lady is in Washington D.C, waiting for Federal approval and translation into Chinese. Once it is approved and completed, it will be mailed back to our agency. From that point, all those papers, all our pictures, all our personal, financial and pretty much anything you ever wanted about every aspect of our life documents will fly their little way to China.

Once it lands in the People's Republic of China it will be hand delivered to the  China Center for Children's Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA)

And then, we will wait for the approval from the Chinese government.

Once we are approved for a Chinese Special Needs adoption, we are on the list!!

We will be ready and approved to start receiving referrals. What is a referral? It is a child, with all their little documents, medical information, any known family information and usually a picture or two.

How long will we wait for our referral? They are estimating anywhere from 3 to 9 months. All of this is dependent on what our wants and needs are for our child.

For us, that means we are looking for a child that is younger than Macy. We do not have a gender preference and we are pretty open to the special needs. That area is hard to narrow down, as it depends on so many things. Will that keep us in the 3 month range or will that have us wait longer? We just do not know.

So for now, the fervor  of paper work is mostly behind us. We now will wait for the Federal government and the Chinese government.

We will wait and we will pray. We pray for the baby, for safety and peace and comfort in a orphanage filled with beds of babies. We pray that our funding will come in and that we will not have any delays because of finances.

The reality of adoption is that is it very expensive. There are many people involved who are paid to do their job. It cost money to file papers, to advocate for the orphans and communicate with the orphanage.

Our next payment is $4,000.

I am not sure how we will make that payment.

But we are trusting that this is what we are supposed to do. We have had checks come in that we did not expect, extra bonuses and so far, we have covered over $9,000 ourselves.

We will be doing a few fundraisers coming up, we have grant applications out and are awaiting response and we are praying. So much praying.

We have less than 20 days left on our Adoption Bridge account. This account goes directly to our adoption agency and 100% of it goes to help cover our adoption costs.

We would love for you to partner with us, and help us empty one little bed in an orphanage.
Need to make a charitable donation for tax purposes before the end of the year? Our agency is a non-profit, so it will be a tax write off. Own a business or know someone who does and needs that write off? Send them our way. We would be so grateful.

Click here if you would like to go to our Adoption Bridge page. We would love for you to share it on your social network. The more eyes that see it, the more the plight of orphans is brought to the forefront.

Regardless, we covet your prayers.

We are on our way. One step closer to China!!
