A Day in November

November 27, 2010

This Saturday was a lazy Saturday. We had nothing planned. We did nothing. It was wonderful.

We ventured out to the mall on Black Friday night, so were out past bedtime. Jack decided to not go to sleep till after 11pm. SO... this Saturday morning, we slept in.

Jack and Ryan stayed in bed till 8:30 p.m. Colin and I slept till after 9am! Granted, we were both up around 5 am for a nursing session... but it felt almost luxurious to sleep past 9 a.m.

My little man is so stinkin' happy in the morning.

He is totally rocking his "man-bag" as well.

Daddy and Jack headed to the gym, while I made some coffee and had some breakfast.

Colin was fascinated with the Wheat Thins box. He seriously played with that thing for a solid 10 minutes. That is hours in baby time.

Of course, what do you do with Wheat Thins? Why you eat them of course!

Dishes were done, babies were fed and my boys came home from the gym.

My sweet boy brought me a present. He is sweet. I have a crush on him, too.

While Ryan and Jack played outside and the baby napped... I did this...
Fun.

Baby napped for 15 minutes.

15 pitiful minutes.

At least he looks like this when he wakes up...

So, we nursed and Jack went down for a nap.
( Yes, his finger is in his nose. Just capturing some real life here, folks)

After Colin decided to puke through another whole outfit, he was changed and FINALLY went down for a nap. Both boys napped at the same time for a glorious hour. I don't remember what I did during that time. I probably cleaned.

After naptimes, we attempted to take family pictures for our Christmas card. It was just us, our tripod, camera and a quickly falling sun. We had about 20 minutes of light left to get some pictures.

It was... interesting.

Jack was charming and always takes good pictures.

Colin puked all over everything. Again. We will definitely be talking to the Dr. this week about the amount of spit up this kid projects.

The actual real life picture.

We had some hits, but mostly misses.

After some dinner we finally put up the remaining wall decals for Jack's room. We put in a huge 6ft African safari type tree on one of the walls and decided to finish it up with the monkey and the giraffe.

Jack approved.

Up next, the giraffe. We had a bit of a problem with the decal, but after some minor repair surgery on the sticker, it looked good as new.

Colin turned 4 months old and I needed to take some picture by his elephant before bedtime.

He wouldn't stay still. He thought it was funny to keep sliding down.

Super funny.

With Jack finally in bed for the night, we made some carmel apples and enjoyed our first holiday movie of the season. Ryan scored the movie for $3.99 on a black Friday special. Everyone needs to have 'Elf' in their holiday reserves. Everyone.

Colin hung out in his baby snuggie for a bit before bedtime. He was actually in bed before midnight. Success!
(It is not an actual snuggie. It is a sleep sack. BUT I am sure they would make a snuggie for babies. They make snuggies for dogs. I despise snuggies.)

And that was our non active, lazy, laid back Saturday. They are few and far in between and I loved it!

Blessings

I am blessed.

I am blessed beyond measure.

I am thankful that I serve a God with whom I can have a real, vibrant relationship with. I am thankful for a God that loves me, whether I am having a good day or a bad day. I am thankful that my salvation is not based on my good deeds, just my need for a savior.

I am thankful for a loving husband that is my perfect partner in life.

I am thankful for my oldest son, Jack. His life has changed mine and I am so thankful for him and his sweet sensitive spirit.

I am thankful for my healthy, beautiful baby Colin and the joy he has brought to our little family.

I am thankful for a loving, supportive family, who encourages us whether we are near or far.

I am thankful for great friends, both near and far in which we journey through life with.

When I think of this day of thanks, the words of the doxology keep resounding in my head.

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

May your year be blessed and may we always give thanks for the wonderful things that are in our life.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Fedell house!

Like

I went on a date tonight.

With this guy.

I like him.

I liked going on a date with him.

I missed watching the Colts game against my arch nemesis Patriots to go eat with him. It's o.k. I like him more than the Colts.

We ate at a restaurant on the oceanfront... along with a few other 65+ couples. No biggie.

We took some pictures down by the water. I closed my eyes for all of my photos. Awesome.

We bought a few presents. I like Melissa & Doug. I like Melissa & Doug on sale at T.J. Maxx even more.

We picked up some essentials at Trader Joe's. Sans kids. It was nice.

They did not have any Candy Cane Joe-Joe's. I didn't like that.

We talked. We held hands some. We may have even kissed a time or two.

I liked it.

I'd go on a date with him again.

Must Reads

I love to read. I always have. When I was a young girl, I would chose to curl up with a book while my siblings would prefer to play outside. I have a problem though. I get engrossed. Really. I start a book and I can not put it down till it is finished. That is a problem, you see, cause I am married. I have children. I have a house to maintain. Reading every spare second I get does not bode well for the rest of the household. I realize that this is a season in my life, and so, I have chosen to not pick up any fiction novels for awhile. Non-fiction is a different story. It takes me forever to finish that stuff.

So, in order to fulfill my reading fix, I read blogs. It is the perfect amount of words. I usually read blogs while I am nursing Colin, as it is easy to handle the computer and Colin takes FOREVER to nurse. He milks it for all it is worth. Ha! ;)

Since I read a lot of blogs, I thought I would share the few top favorites of mine. I tend to read a lot of fashion blogs over anything else. I have thought about starting a fashion type blog for awhile now, but, again, this is not a season in my life to do that. I am sure that most people would  not want to see spit and peanut butter and jelly kisses marks on clothing...

So, grab some coffee and check out these blogs!
(in no particular order)

A Cup of Jo ~ A New York mommy who always has fun little photos and products to check out from all over the world. I really loved this post! She is so brave!

Cupcakes and Cashmere~ Everything that Emily posts on this blog is beautiful, effortless and well-done. She makes everything look easy. You want to hate her but you can't. You just want to be her friend.

In Pursuit of Pretty Things ~ Best friends Carol and Kathryn show off their outfits and their funny side in this light- hearted blog. Another group of people that you wish were your friends too.

She's Star-Crossed ~ Mrs. B is the best mom ever. She makes great homemade food for her kiddos, has the cutest kitchen and you should just see how cute her kid's rooms are. Plus she is funny, so check her out. You will want to live in her pretty pictures.

The Girliest Boy Mom~ Another fashion/Anthropologie blogger. Except that she is hilarious and has funny stories about her boys and hubby.

Clothed Much~ She is a recent find. I really like her quirky comments. Plus she wears clothes that I can normally afford!

The Daybook ~ Another new find and I love this little blog. Great photos and funny dialogues. She makes me miss my just married, before babies and life got CRAZY married life. Reading her blog made me go and kiss my hubby. Must be a worthy read if I want to kiss my Hubby after reading a fashion blog.

So, in my spit up and pb and j kisses stained clothes, I will read these blogs and enjoy them.
These are just a smidgen, but a worthwhile sampling for all.

What are some of your favorite blogs?

Let me know!

Recently purchased

I made a few purchases online this week.

I got this book.

Why, you ask? Because I have two of them. Because I live in a house full of testosterone. I am the lone female. I have heard good things about this book.

The next order? This book.

Any idea of how my week went?

The recent purchases of a mother of two boys under the age of 2, of a struggling mother of a toddler.

I did make one cute order.

Sophie.

She is an early Christmas present for the babe.

Hopefully next week will not incite more shopping... because next time it will be retail therapy for the mommy.

He's Back!

We are firmly on Team Coco.

Colin is a big fan.

It could be the crazy red hair.

It could be the pale white skin.

It could be long lanky limbs.

It could be the his brother has pronounced 'Colin' to sound more like 'Conon'.

Whatever the reasons, whatever the similarities,

Colin is with Coco.

Possibly the cutest Team Coco member ever.
May even be more funny.
Maybe.

Either way, my late night nursing session has just gotten a whole lot more interesting with Conan back in town.

Day Off

I need a day off.

From everything.

Butt wiping.
Dish washing.
Dinner making.
Tear wiping.
Laundry folding.
Spit up cleaning.
Time out giving.
Diaper changing.

Time off.

Time away.

Time to myself.

Mommy needs a break.

Since a full day off it impossible, I am going to take a few hours to myself tomorrow. Alone.

I may go to Barnes and Noble to read with a piping cup of coffee in my hand.

I may sloowwly browse the mall and savor walking...with out a stroller.

I may browse some thrift stores to look for some hidden treasure.

The fact that I have a choice that does not include infant/toddler schedules is almost too delicious.

I really need a break.

Now, I just need to decided what I want to do tomorrow...

Those are sweet dreams.

Mr. 3 Month

Colin turned 3 months old last week. I feel like he went to bed one night as my newborn and woke up as a baby, all big and alert and active.
Overnight.

He is my happy little guy. He always has a smile for me and everyone else around him. He laughs at his brother all the time. He loves to hear his Daddy's voice and gets really excited.
He is a pro at tummy time and rolls over from his belly to his back when he gets sick of being on his stomach.
I can no longer leave him on the couch, as he is this close to rolling over from back to belly.
He loves his play mat and can now grab anything in site and play with it. He loves to kick and will scoot himself into the wall with his little kicks.
He is my active guy.

Dramatic baby pose

Colin sleeps only in the morning (think 1am-10am ish) and is not the biggest fan of naps. He does take one nap a day that is longer than little cat naps, thankfully.

He is opinionated about his food. He will let you know he is hungry and you have a few minutes to answer him...than it is mad face time. Mommy is rushing to finish something up and misses the mad face cue?
Watch out! Angry, screaming baby emerges. 3 seconds into that feeding? Smiling while nursing guy.

Big brother Jack, a budding photographer with his Elmo camera, decided to join in the photo shoot as well. He got some great shots, especially with his camera facing him.

I am excited to see the relationship develop between these two.

My Colin is so sweet and such a joy.
I am slightly mourning the rapid growth of my little baby, but am excited to see him develop and change.
We just love him.
